Nest to lay eggs

It is okay to select a pair of caged birds for reproduction but also to select a suitable place for them to lay their eggs. If the bird does not have a suitable place, there is reluctance to lay eggs. They want a safe and secluded place where they can raise their children with care and without fear.

Different birds have different tastes. So, some of them want baskets made of bamboo or cane and some birds want pots or wooden boxes etc.

It is better to use coconut husk or dried grass to build the nests of Bengalese and Java birds of the Finch family. It should not be larger than 1/2 inch to 2 inches.  The Java birds, make a good best by using the thorns of the date leaves about 2 inches to 2 1/2 inches. In case of Love Bird, very good results are obtained by using thin plywood pieces or very well-washed sugarcane stalks.
